For companies, having more skilled personnel usually means more success. Africa is currently the continent with the highest profitability potential and progress margin for global companies. In this context, recruitment becomes an essential part of development.

But large companies in the continent need skilled people. “Head-hunting” becomes then both an exercise at the heart of company projects and the origin of  the ongoing battle between certain companies.

In this article, Anaïs Veerapatren (photo), a T2A reader and hiring manager, speaks about recruitment: the importance of recruiting “the right profile” and the ideal recruitment methods.

She makes a relevant point on the changing aspects of HR practices, the different contexts, the growing need for talents.

In perspective, the author raises an important issue: Where can one find talents?

For years, the international recruitment specialist Chams Diagne first glimpsed the idea. A strong experience in global recruitment inspired this Senegalese “homecomer” to try to plug the talent gap in Africa. Talent2Africa comes through both as the logical follow-up and solution for recruiters looking for TALENTS. The company founded by Chams Diagne is intended to be used as a HR-hub for companies based in Africa, linking recruiters to world talents, especially those from the African Diaspora because of their knowledge of the local contexts.

The article: the importance of recruiting the right talent

The flow of human capital into organisations is a crucial aspect of organisational functioning. In that process, recruitment is the primary mechanism for attracting human capital to the organisation. Since highly skilled talents are an undeniable asset to companies, competition for the best and the brightest has intensified and recruitment methods need more than ever to be innovative to attract the best talents. These talents will contribute to knowledge creation, further innovation and economic development. Hence, a bug deal is at stake! Indeed, the better the talent is, the highest will be his contribution. Bearing that in mind, we understand why the ability to attract top talent is one of the key issues for human resource managers. The challenge becomes even more important for international organisations.

Although it is hard to find conclusive evidence of the link between HR practices and the ability to attract talent, modern research strongly suggests that high performance organisations are consistently outperforming their competitors on a number of HR aspects, including the degree of pro-activity in HR planning and a proper talent matching.

Organisations are becoming more dependent upon people because they are increasingly involved in more complex technologies and are attempting to function in more complex economic, political and sociocultural environments. The more different technical skills are involved, the more vulnerable will the organisation be to critical shortages of the right kinds of human resources.

This brings us to the question: Where do we find the talent?

Unfortunately, there is no straight answer to this question because there are many aspects to consider under each recruitment project. This is why I am so passionate about my job.
