Mauritius leads the 2017 edition of the African mobile telecom association rankings published by the World Association of Telecom Operators (GSMA).With a score of 62.7 points, this island state of the Indian Ocean ranks 76th in the world in this ranking, which measures the ability of more than 150 countries to connect its citizens to the mobile Internet, and Class according to a score ranging from 0 to 100.

The ranking is based on four key factors: infrastructure (facilities allowing access to mobile Internet), prices (mobile devices and packages), the degree of predisposition of non-connected citizens to learn (Skills, cultural and political environment, etc.), as well as content (availability of services to meet the needs of a local population).

South Africa (84th in the world) took second place of the podium in front of Tunisia (89th), Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Botswana, Namibia and Ghana. Angola closes African Top 10

Guinea, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo and Niger arrive last on the African scale and on a world scale, with scores between 17 and 20/100. This is due to the severe lack and often the lack of infrastructure as well as the prices that are difficult to afford for these populations. The number of citizens not connected and not predisposed to be naturally generates the absence of adapted content.

Worldwide, Australia, Norway and New Zealand are at the top of the ranking with scores above 85/100.
