Big brands in Africa – Coca Cola, Nestlé, Accor Hotels, Vinci Construction, Rangold, Vivendi, QNB, Orange, Carrefour, Airtel etc., the list of world Big brands in Africa is long and diverse, as much by shareholders (European, American, Asian etc.) as by sectors of activity: BTP, Banking Finance, Telecoms, Oil and Mining, Agribusiness etc. As for the main sectors of activity in which these multinationals compete in terms of recruitment, the flourishing “oil and mining” sector takes the lion’s share.  The recruitment needs are focused on positions like engineers and geologists. The ideal profile? Young Africans or the Diaspora who already have a first experience in the sector take the lead, according to the magazine. These include Rangold, a multinational operating in Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana and Tanzania. In the construction industry, there is a great interest for positions such as civil, security or roadworks engineers, logistics managers, site managers, etc. It’s an attractive business in Africa in which the   European and Chinese companies are very interested.

One can mention the French Vinci Construction or the Chinese CRBC (China Road and Bridge Corporation). Banking and Finance: Qatar National Bank (QNB), HSBC, Barclays’ etc. This sector can only grow because Africa is still under-banked. And with Fintech’s major breakthrough, international banks recruit many profiles such as bank drafters, commercial and financial analysts, risk managers, directors or heads of agencies. With a strong foreign presence (Orange, Vodafone, Etisalat etc.), the telecom reaps big success in terms of growth, in recent years. In this sector, many positions such as skilled technicians and IT technicians proficient in new technologies, marketing and commercial experts are needed. Agribusiness: after the successful breakthroughs of Coca-Cola and Nestlé on the continent, the food industry, commonly called “agribusiness”, is growing fast. There is great demand for sales, marketing or plantation managers, experts in marketing etc., in this sector.
