After the new oil and gas industry, Senegal plans to make the aviation sector a dynamic generator of economic growth. Public authorities have taken great steps to make this sector a centerpiece of the West African economy.
A brand new airport (Blaise Diagne International Airport – AIBD) will be inaugurated at the end of the year (7 December 2017) and a new airline (Air Sénégal SA) has been created.
In addition, a new Manager (Philippe Bohn) who is an expert in the field, co-opted by the Senegalese president himself, has been named and is ready to “put the company into orbit” (Jeune Afrique). Two Airplanes have been purchased (ATR 72-600 for a total of 9 aircraft by 2025), a budget of 40 billion CFA francs made available and finally, the aviation department (run by Maimouna Ndour Seck) has been empowered.
In short, Senegal gets itself ready, with the ambition to be among the best in Africa in terms of aviation. Macky Sall (president) made it a priority to generate growth as he said it during a ministerial council (October 2017). For the Senegalese president, the key for success is to increase the level of professionalism in the security and safety functions .

The airport and the airline will create many career opportunities for the industry professionals. Hundreds of direct jobs and thousands indirect will be generated in the next months. According to Philippe Bohn, Senegal’s ambition fits the potential offered by the aviation sector in terms of productivity and job creation.
“Dakar is an important geographical hub and its huge demographic potential means a lot of people who will need to travel”
Doing so requires a quality staff to help the new company reach its objectives. A recruitment process has just been launched by the CEO, who said that he wants talents on board. Foreign pilots were recruited by the company and some training will be provided to some local pilots.
In short, Air Senegal is currently recruiting his staff and counts on the professionals in the sector, local as well as those of the Diaspora especially. The company does not currently have any employees (it only has service providers whose majority of contracts have expired)
To operate its new company and its new airport, Senegal is actively seeking talents with profiles such as:
